Downda Road Productions- Keith Plunkett

Keith Plunkett

Singer / songwriter

Keith Plunkett has been an aspiring musician since childhood, picking up the guitar at a young age and playing his first gig at the age of just fourteen. Keith started out as a member of a cover band and played with fellow young musicians in his local area, Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo. Throughout his youth Keith experimented with various styles of music however he found he was always most comfortable writing and performing his own material. As he has matured he has developed his own writing style while incorporating his favourite musical styles such as the loop pedal which adds percussion from the guitar and vocal harmonies, giving his gigs another depth.

In 2014, he recorded a demo entitled “Long Way Down” in a home recording studio. While working on a second demo song that Keith and some of his friends were producing, Keith garnered the attention of Mike Gleeson, Founder of Downda Road Productions; who invited Keith down to the Golden Egg Studios to record some acoustic covers and demo tracks. Following this recording session, Mike was quick to offer Keith a recording contract as he witnessed firsthand his talent and potential. Keith signed with the label in early 2015 and with the tutelage of the Downda Road team has been developing his sound and profile.

Over the last years Keith has seen his profile grow, through his stellar performances he has been invited to play at a number of festivals and events including the Hardly Strictly Acoustic Festival, The Free Fringe Festival, Le Cheile Festival, Solas Festival, The Secret Village Festival, Battle for the Bay & Lake, Vantastival and many more! He has played gigs in music venues, pubs and cafes throughout the country including some well know places such as The Spirit Store, The Globe, The Crowbar (Button Factory) and The Old Dara Cinema in Naas, etc. promoting two EP's and various singles. A chance encounter with Paddy Casey led to him supporting this musical supremo on various occasions, whilst having also supported MTV nominated “Hogan”, Declan O'Rourke, Hudson Taylor & Hermitage Green . He has also seen his public profile grow through various live radio appearances on stations such as CCR, Flirt FM, Dundalk FM and Shannon Side while growing his fan base exponentially. Keith has also appeared on Charity projects such as the “A Song For Jack and Jill” Charity Album and the Touch Ireland "The Positive Touch" Album which also included artists to the likes of Paddy Casey, Mundy, The Devlins, The Blades, The Four of Us and fellow label artist Sina Theil.

After completing his studies in Music and Audio Production at DKIT, he is currently based and working out of Dublin.

Further to the success of his single "100 Cracks" which landed him the much sought after title as Dermot & Dave's "Homegrown Hero" on Today FM, Keith released "Until Noon", a heartfelt ballad which reached #6 in the Irish iTunes Charts. His new EP "The Thrill" was recorded with Kells based engineer Martin Quinn at "JAM Studios" and is an easy listening folk-pop EP. It will be available on all major music platforms soon as he enters the Winter playing some final festivals.

"On a mission to put Rock into Irish Country"

Originally from Germany, Sina Theil started playing piano and writing songs at the age of 7, picking up a guitar at 18 and since flourishing into an accomplished recording artist. Sina left Germany for Spain where she played with a local Spanish band and recorded her first few demos, before finally arriving in Dublin to pave her career on the Irish music scene and becoming a student at BIMM. While making her way busking on the streets of Dublin, she gained experience in live performance as the front-woman of a rock group.

In 2017 Sina was signed to Downda Road Productions and has since scored nine #3 singles in the Irish Country Download Charts including six #1 singles and her debut album "Under Cover" also charted at #1 in the Irish Country Download Charts and #5 in the Irish All Genre Download Album Charts. It is available on iTunes and all major Download Services and embodies a collection of songs that have accompanied her and her manager Mike Gleeson on the road while gigging relentlessly up and down the country for the past year.

In 2017, she achieved a #2 in the Irish Country Download Charts with the single "Sam's Coming Home" which was recorded for Mayo based Childhood Cancer Charity Gearóid's Smile. The song was centred around Mayo's unsuccessful bid for All Ireland Glory. Sina's connection with Mayo GAA goes back to a chance recording of her reworking of "Galway Girl" outside McHale Park which went viral and received close to 100,000 views and resulted in a major increase in her popularity and constant gigging, especially in the West of Ireland.

Sina's first release off the new album was a true Summer Anthem called "Here for the Party" (originally recorded by Gretchen Wilsons) which also reached #1 in the Irish Country Download Charts and was voted "Song of the Week" on Kfm. On the 22nd of August, she released track no. 8 "Crazy Women" which scored her another #1.

To date, Sina's songs have been played on many Irish and UK based stations including C103, ClareFM, Midwest Radio, Midlands 103, Kfm, OceanFm, Radio Kerry, RedFM, Shannonside/Northern Sound, Highland Radio, BBC Coventry & Warwickshire, BBC WM, Galway Bay, LMFM, Tipp FM, WLR and many more. To date, her music has stacked up over 2.81 Million radio listener impressions and almost 1,020 radio plays in the Island of Ireland alone as registered by Radiomonitor.

Another of Sina's original tracks 'Weight of the World' appeared on the Charity Album 'The Positive Touch' alongside songs from artists such as Paddy Casey, Mundy, The 4 Of Us, The Devlins, The Blades, Gavin Glass and more. During a very successful launch at The Workman's Club in Dublin, Sina gained great exposure as she joined Paddy Casey and Mundy on stage for a memorable performance and has been awarded "Song of the Week" on Highland Radio, KFm, Dundalk Fm, Way Out Radio UK, and Belgium Country Radio. More recently, she has been featured and interviewed on Hot Country TV & Keep It Country TV and appeared in RSVP Magazine, The Irish World, the Irish Mirror and various other press publications.

She is currently still gigging all around Ireland (please check www.sinatheil.com or Facebook for dates) and working on various new releases which are expected soon, while also completing her much anticipated original album due for release later on in the year which is set to establish her as a major player on the Irish Country Rock scene. She will also make various main stage festival appearances this summer such as The Secret Village Festival, Battle for the Bay & Battle for the Lake, Dublin Goes Country, The Hardly Strictly Acoustic Festival, etc

We hope you enjoy Sina's music and for more information, don't hesitate to get in touch with us at contact@downdaroad.com and follow Sina Theil on Facebook.

Downda Road Productions - Davie Furey

Davie Furey

Singer / songwriter

Fusing traditional roots with contemporary folk and rock, Davie Furey’s sound is charecterized by storytelling, energy and guitar riffs that beat like a pulse. Citing Christy Moore, Luke Kelly, Pearl Jam and Bruce Springsteen as a diverse cross-section of influences, Davie has drawn on a wide range of inspiration while crafting his own sound.

His current offering, an eleven track album entitled Easy Come Easy Go follows a well received 2009 album ‘Out of Your Arms’. Davie’s nak for a telling a story through song and his abiltiy to engage a crowd have won him support slots with the likes of Glen Hansard, Damien Dempsey, Josh Ritter, John Spillane and Luka Bloom.

Still, despite having toured for six years, there is an air of excitement that runs through his latest release, a tangible feeling that this is an artist who has come into his own.

The eleven songs that appear on Easy Come Easy Go have been crafted while touring Ireland, Europe and America. Davie’s songwriting, like his voice, has evolved over the six years he has been performing.

The voice has become raspier, the stories more searingly honest, the guitar more strikingly memorable. Fuelled with unique observations, driven by passion, and delivered with equal parts strength, fragility, and humour.

Downda Road Productions - Vagabonds & Thieves

Band

Formed in Kildare in April 2014, Vagabonds and Thieves setup of guitar, bass, drums and bouzouki through a Marshall has made this band stand out. The blend of rock, blues, folk and off beat styling’s played with tons of energy have kept the gig goers interested, entertained and coming back for more.

Having done locals only on Nova the band then got asked to do new Irish music scene show on KFM, the response was such that the live tracks recorded have been played on the following weeks shows.

Coming from a DIY ethic the bands self-recorded ep is meant to be a snap shot of the band where they were. As their ever expanding repertoire adds new songs and new styles into the mix Vagabonds have no fear of experimenting and adding new elements in to their sound.
